That croc video is brutal.
There are good gastronomical reasons for killing animals swiftly and humanely. If they fight -- as that sad little croc did -- then their blood fills with hormones and other chemicals, negatively altering the taste.
Not to mention that most of the best meat on that croc would be bruised and unpalatable as a result of the desperate thrashing.
Are .22 rifles _that_ hard to get a license for in China? A small "restaurant size" croc could be dispatched by a single, humane, shot at point-blank range, with no risk to the operator of the rifle.
What I'm reminded of most of all watching that video is visiting an aquarium in Japan years ago, where the number one comment overheard (in Japanese, of course) was "Wow! Doesn't that look delicious!"
Now, croc is delicious too if properly prepared -- but anyone who orders one that's been killed by the restaurant staff with a mallet is gonna have a very sub-standard exotic dining experience.

Yes. In fact, I don't think you can get a license for any kind of gun at all. For sure no way will you get one to dispatch a crocodile in a restaurant. All guns are illegal, period.
Not to dispute the basic point of the post, which is that there has to be a better way to kill a crocodile.
I don't know why the one guy is so concerned about dispatching a croc "humanely"...a croc would dispatch you QUITE inhumanely by dragging you underwater until you drown, and then begin munching on you. See, when you drown, your brain stays alive and functioning for anywhere from 3 to 5 full minutes, so picture yourself underwater, not able to thrash about and fully feeling and realizing the poor little croc munching down hard on your body parts. Yeah, if it were me, I would just take a big ol' knife and stick them directly into the croc's eyeballs, then I would slit its belly open while alive--I got absolutely ZERO feelings toward reptiles...DIE CROC DIE!
